Is it hard to use one of these razors?

Nope, not hard, just different! A good double edge razor is designed to do most of the work for you, so there is not need to use pressure when you’re shaving.  If you learn to hold the razor lightly in your fingertips and let it glide across your skin, you’ll find it quite easy. If you expect one of these razors to feel exactly like a plastic razor (lightweight and requiring a lot of pressure to get a close shave), you’ll have a tough time!

Do I have to use a shaving brush?

You don’t have to do anything! But, you will be surprised the difference a shaving brush can make.

A shaving brush exfoliates, gently removing the top layer of dead skin (don’t worry, we all have it!) before you shave.  That means your razor (whichever type you use), can cut the stubble closer to the root, meaning your shave will feel smoother for longer.  A shaving brush also softens stubble, so your razor doesn’t have to work so hard.  The brush combined with a lovely shave soap also lifts the stubble up away from your skin so that the razor blade can glide through it rather than running it over.

A shaving brush will improve any shave, no matter what type of razor you use.  A lot of people immediately gravitate towards a new razor, but if you’re switching to wet shaving primarily due to skin irritation and your budget says you can only choose brush OR razor, start with the brush, you’ll be glad you did!

How long does a blade last?

Ahh yes, this question!  In our experience working with thousands of shavers who came though our store, you can expect about 6-7 shaves from one safety razor blade.  Now please remember, this number varies widely! We have clients who replace their blade every few shaves while others can go for 50!  This depends mainly on how much you’ve softened your stubble before shaving, the shaving soap or cream you’re using, and even the razor you’re using.  Getting a good lather is key.  Getting good blades is key too.  Not every blade works perfectly on every hair and skin type, so try a few different types of blade in our combo pack.

Can I buy your products in person?

We had a store in downtown Victoria, BC from 2010 to 2020, but with changing times (i.e. thanks a lot COVID…), we’ve now switched to online sales (but you know that already because here you are!).  It kind of feels like we’re going back to our roots because we started our online store before we actually had a physical location.  We do our best to describe our products to you using photos, videos and descriptions (more videos soon!), but feel free to reach out to us if you need more info.  We’re happy to help 🙂

Also, you can find awesome local shops who carry some of our products (check with them for specific items) by clicking here!
