This vintage kit is really special because it features an antique Spartan shaving brush that has been set with brand new bristles. For those who appreciate history, this set is for you!
We’ve kept many of these items in our vintage collection for many years because they’re just so cool, but it’s finally time for them to find their forever homes!
We wanted this kit to be ready to go for its new owner, so we’ve outfitted it with an assortment of one-of-a-kind shaving supplies.
The leather case measures 22cm x 14cm x 5cm with a zipper running around 3 edges, allowing the case to open like a binder. Inside you’ll find the original aluminum tins that hold each grooming item. The case also contains its original mirror and synthetic bristle hair brush. The hair brush is original, so whether you use it is up to you).
Included inside the grooming kit is:
• a vintage restoration Spartan Shaving Brush with new synthetic bristles (made in England, restored by us)
• 1932 vintage Gillette Tech double edge safety razor, made in Canada
• Bar of our all-natural shave soap in your scent of choice

The Brush
Brad, the founder and co-owner of The Copper Hat, restored this vintage shaving brush and set it with extremely soft “Tuxedo” synthetic nylon bristles. We’ve used Synthetic bristles because they outlast natural bristles and are easier to care for. They are lovely and soft, making them excellent for those with sensitive skin. Synthetic bristles are also vegan.
The brush handle is called a Spartan and was made in England by the Culmak company. We believe this brush was manufactured in the 1950s. Culmak has been making hand finished brushes since 1805 and were originally artistic painters who crafted their own paint brushes! We love the stories behind these pieces.
The Razor
The double edge razor was invented in 1903, and unlike drugstore cartridge razors that are most commonly used today, the double edge razor blade fits all double edge razors (with a some rare exceptions). Many folks love shaving with and collecting vintage razors because they were extremely well built and are a unique piece of history. This razor was manufactured in Canada in 1932 and is a version of the Gillette “Tech”. It uses a standard double edge razor blade (like all of the other razors we sell) and provides a fantastic, close shave. The Tech is similar to most vintage razors in that it is shorter than modern safety razors, ensuring you grip it only with your fingertips so the razor can pivot and glide without pressure over your skin. If you appreciate antiques and quality manufacturing, this razor is for you!
The Soap
We make our soap with all natural ingredients and essential oils that respect both the planet and our skin. Our soap is moisturizing, clean rinsing, and beneficial for all skin types. We’ve formulated this shave soap to lather exceptionally well, protect your skin and last longer than aerosol cans of shave gel. Choose from:
- Shaved Ice: Peppermint and Eucalyptus – refreshing and cool
- Twisted Lime: Lime and Tea Tree – citrusy and fresh
- Bay Rum: Clove, Pine and Orange – sweet and spicy
- Coastal Fair: Lavender and Benzoin – calming and relaxing
- Island Hopper: Benzoin and Frankincense – herbal and sweet
- Lumberjack: Cedarwood and Sage – woodsy and slightly smokey
- Unscented: No Essential Oils – plain and simple, no scent
The Leather Travel Kit
This case is vintage, so please keep in mind that there are some markings and flaws in the leather. We think it adds character and history to the case, but if you’d prefer something brand new, you can take a look at these.
