Every part of this straight razor was crafted and assembled by an individual craftsman in the U.S.A.
The one-piece, Red Oak wood scales have a simple elegance and are extremely durable, providing an excellent balance to the razor’s edge. A hex screw attaches the scales, so you can easily adjust, tighten or loosen to your preference, as well as re-scale the razor using the provided hex wrench. Each razor comes with its own moisture wicking silicon infused cotton sheath and is packaged in an elegant veneer cherry wood Parker gift box with care instructions.
Made from O-1 tool steel, this razor contains no old forgings or “mystery metal”. These razors are surface ground before and after heat-treating and are guaranteed to be straight for ease of stropping and honing. They are then heat treated in a molten salt bath, protecting the blades from decarburization and oxidation. The blades are frozen in liquid nitrogen to assure dimensional stability and are triple tempered for a final hardness of 62-63 HRC. Finally, the blade is finish honed on a vintage Escher hone and hand stropped.
Every blade is “shave-ready” right out of the box.
6/8” quarter ground | Special Silk Finish | Square Point | hand carved file jimps on the inside edge of the blade’s tang for added control and grip while shaving.
If you currently shave with a drug store razor, we highly recommend using and being comfortable with a double edge razor before moving to a straight like this one. We’ve been teaching people about and selling both straight razors and double edge razors for a long time, and in our experience, the majority of people who jump directly to a straight find it quite frustrating. If you’re moving into using a straight razor, you’ll also need a strop. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to drop us a line.
