Description
Brad, the founder and co-owner of The Copper Hat, crafted this shaving brush from salvaged and dried Caragana wood from Saskatchewan. To ensure this shaving brush stands up to years of everyday use in the water, Brad has stabilized it with a red resin, giving it this unique rose colour.
We set this brush with extremely soft “Tuxedo” synthetic nylon bristles which makes it softer than any natural bristle type. After 10 years of manufacturing and setting people up with shaving brushes, we’ve learned that Synthetic bristles outlast natural bristles and are easier to care for. They are lovely and soft, making them excellent for those with sensitive skin. Synthetic bristles are also vegan.
Brad has been making shaving brushes on his wood lathe since the beginning of The Copper Hat in 2009 and loves creating something that the recipient will enjoy for many years to come!
Why Use a Shaving Brush?
For people who hate shaving due to ingrown hairs, red bumps, razor burn and irritation, a shaving brush can help a lot.
A shaving brush creates a thick, skin protecting lather and distributes it evenly so that your razor does not shave exposed skin. The bristles of the brush exfoliate your skin, effectively removing dead skin cells right before you shave, ensuring your razor has the clearest path possible. A shaving brush also lifts each individual hair (by running it against the direction of hair growth after you lather) so that the razor slices through them rather than over them.
We’ve been teaching folks about shaving for the past 10 years and can confidently say that the brush makes the difference! No matter what kind of razor you use, starting your shave with a shaving brush always makes for a closer, less irritating experience.
